Four Red Dot Awards for design agency VanBerlo

This week the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 were announced. With designs for ATAG, Bosch and Vicon, design agency VanBerlo will bring home four of these prestigious awards. The prizes will be given out during the official Red Dot Gala at the Aalto Music Theatre on 9 July in Essen, Germany.

The Red Dot Award is one of the largest and most prominent design competitions in the world. This year, a jury of 39 international experts evaluated 6,300 entries from 59 countries. The winning designs will be on view all year long in the Red Dot Design Museum and will be presented in the Red Dot yearbook.

ATAG Magna coffee machine

Designed by VanBerlo in collaboration with ATAG, the coffee machine is included in the MAGNA product line. Ease of use goes hand in hand with attention to material, elegant design and high-quality detailing. Characteristics that distinguish this award-winning line of appliances for the more sophisticated market segment.

Bosch Dicentis Interpreter Desk

With Dicentis, Bosch brings a device to the market that speaks the language of an interpreter. The design team observed and interviewed translation experts and technicians worldwide. Those findings have been integrated into the device's interface and product design. The result? A user experience, designed by VanBerlo, that meets the wishes and requirements of both the users and the market. Thanks to its intuitive operation, the user interface has been designed in such a way that the interpreters can concentrate fully on their work. The device's installation and configuration processes are quick and straightforward. Its ergonomic design has been tested and offers optimal control.

Bosch Praesensa Call Station

As the UX partner of Bosch, VanBerlo sketched out the design for the Prasensa Public Address and Voice Alarm System; a modular system that is used to regulate noise, business calls and evacuations in various kinds of buildings. The call station's intuitive interface offers an optimised user experience through an effective combination of a touchscreen and selection buttons. Clear-cut process instructions and status feedback ensure comfort and ease of use for operators.

Vicon disc mower

No field is ever the same. Outfitted with QuattroLink suspension, inspired by Formula 1 race car technology, the Vicon disc mower can follow the contours of any field fluidly. To minimise its breadth and for easier transport and storage, either end of this cleverly designed mower can be folded up. The mounting and driving mechanisms have an elegant curve to them, resulting in a clean design that sets itself apart from the herd. VanBerlo drew up the design.
